My Story
When I moved to the United States 5 years ago from Colombia, SA I didn’t speak any English and this was a challenge I had to overcome academically and personally. Despite this challenge, I passed all my classes and my academic capacities have expanded every year. I enjoy experiencing new things and I love fresh challenges. I like experiences that help me grow as a person and bring out the best in me.
Soccer is a great example of a challenge that has helped me rise to my potential. I have been playing soccer for as long as I can remember, and it is my favorite thing in the world on top of anything-I feel like I come alive when I step on the field. The language challenge couldn’t affect me on the field. I currently play club soccer for AC Bethesda and for Walter Johnson High School. I was chosen to play in the All State game and was recently awarded the MVP award for my high school team. I also was recently named All County Gazette and chosen as The Washington Post All-Met. This is a big deal to me because my high school soccer team has been recognized as one of the best teams in the country. The last 3 years my school had 44 wins with only 5 losses and 2 ties. I put all my effort in pushing myself to be one the best, and I am proud to have seen the hard work and drive pay off.
Looking forward, I am excited for new experiences and opportunities. My ultimate dream is to play professional soccer.
